San Diego Comic Art Gallery Opening Reception with IDW and Kevin Eastman




IDW Publishing & Kevin Eastman invite you to celebrate the grand opening of the San Diego Comic Art Gallery on Friday, June 5th between 5PM and 9PM. The San Diego Comic Art Gallery will start off with a bang with an exciting exhibit of the prolific work of San Diego resident Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Free Comic Book Day is This Saturday!



Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday, May 2!

Be sure to visit your local comic book store(s) to pick up some fabulous free comic book offerings, and just to support the industry in general. (Go on, find a little something extra to buy while you're there.)

If you happen to be in Maine, or can get yourself there, be sure to visit Steve Lavigne's Shellback Artworks, where TMNT co-creator Peter Laird will be doing an appearance and signing comic books.

Laird will be appearing from 12:00-3:00pm.

And if you do find yourself at Shellback Artworks, Laird and Lavigne will also be selling the previously unpublished TMNT Vol. 4, #31. This means that all of Volume 4 will have finally been published!

Remaining copies will likely go up for sale on the official Mirage website soon after, so watch for news of that sale if you can't make it to the event.


No matter where you go to celebrate Free Comic Book Day, be sure to get to your store early so you can secure your copy of this year's special Free Comic Book Day TMNT comic, Prelude to Vengeance.
The Turtles’ final battle with Shredder begins here! This book will take us inside the minds of key characters in the TMNT universe, revealing the epic moments that have led to the present, as well as setting the stage for the biggest storyline yet with all new material!

ToonSeum in Pittsburgh Presents "TMNT: 30 Years of Turtle Power" Exhibit




Open now through April 26, the ToonSeum in Pittsburgh, PA, is presenting a retrospective exhibit that celebrates the 30-year history of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

This exhibition was curated by Andrew Farago of the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. He is the author of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Visual History, published by Insight Editions in 2014.

Rob Paulsen to Host Live TMNT-Themed Podcast



Rob Paulsen's podcast, Talkin Toons, will be recording a laundry list of TMNT special guests. The show will be December 9 at 8pm at the Hollywood Improv.

Headlining the show is TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman. Also joining the show are Townsend Coleman, Cam Clarke, Barry Gordon, Pat Fraley, Renae Jacobs, Judith Hoag, Ciro Nieli, Brandon Auman, and more!

In addition to recording a live podcast, the event will also be raising money and toys for Toys for Tots. Tickets are a steal at $15/each, and if you bring in two toys to donate to Toys for Tots you'll be able to get autographs from everyone in attendance.

Pizza Hut to Launch Life-Size Pizza Thrower at San Diego Comic-Con



Pizza Hut Continues Summer-Long Ninja Turtles Promotion with Tribute to iconic Pizza Thrower Toy, Sampling of Cheesy Bites at Event

Comic Con attendees will have a new attraction to feast their eyes on this year.

The attraction weighs 2 tons. Stands 12 feet high. Took 7 weeks to build. And fires pizzas. From a custom cannon. Up to 30 feet! From a seat perched on top of turret.

Starting Wednesday at the Petco Park Interactive Zone, Pizza Hut will reveal a life-size, fully-functional “Pizza Thrower,” a nod to the classic TMNT toy and the latest way the pizza company is partnering with Paramount on the upcoming movie release.  The Pizza Thrower (rendering and video below, spec sheet attached) will be open to the public to try throughout the convention. The Thrower will fire faux Cheesy Bites Pizzas at Ninja Turtles enemies, and participants will receive free slices of the popular Pizza Hut pizza.

Heroes in a Half Shell: A TMNT Art Tribute Exhibition



Gallery Nucleus and Nickelodeon are proud to present an official art exhibition in honor of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' 30th anniversary.

On exhibit from July 12 - August 3, 2014, over 30 artists pay tribute to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Cartoon Art Museum Opening Reception for TMNT Exhibit June 14



The Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco will be holding an opening reception for its current TMNT exhibit on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
Join us with special guests from Nickelodeon's hit TMNT animated series for our opening reception! Meet Turtles artists Mark Bode, Ken Mitchroney, longtime Mirage Studios staffer Molly Bode, and Nickelodeon's Ciro Nieli, Irineo Maramba, Felipe Smith, and Megan Casey as you enjoy refreshments from event sponsor Extreme Pizza at this free event! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themselves will also make a guest appearance! 
This reception also marks the world premiere of the long-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Visual History, written by Cartoon Art Museum Curator Andrew Farago and published by Insight Editions. (The book is available everywhere on June 24, 2014.)
I myself am tentatively planning to attend the reception, dependent on how long an obligation earlier in the day runs. If you can't make it to the reception, you can check out the exhibit any time through September 14, 2014.

TMNT 30th Anniversary Celebration at Shellback Artworks



Just in time for the official 30th anniversary of the original TMNT comic book (first published on May 5, 1984!), Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird will be making a joint appearance at Shellback Artworks on May 4, 2014, just one day after Free Comic Book Day.

As part of this special event, Shellback Artworks will be selling an exclusive Eastman and Laird art print. This piece features pencils by Eastman, inks by Laird, and colors by Steve Lavigne. Peter recently previewed this artwork on his blog (below).

You will also be able to pickup the just-published TMNT Vol. 4, #32 at the event.

Also appearing will be Jim Lawson and Steve Lavigne, and maybe more surprise guests!

Eastman and Laird to Appear Together for Free Comic Book Day




For the first time in a very, very long time, TMNT creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird will be appearing together at Jetpack Comics in Rochester, NH, for Free Comic Book Day this Saturday, May 3, 2014.

As part of the Free Comic Book Day events, there will be freebies (beyond the free comics), as well as additional items for sale. Kevin will be signing autographs and meeting with fans from 10am-4pm, and Peter will be doing the same from 1-4pm.
