San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Paramount Presents "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"

I am home from Comic-Con and slowly getting back into the real world. I will be making detailed updates of events over the upcoming days and weeks.

First up is my video from the Paramount panel on Thursday, July 24. Convention rules don't allow the recording of the clips that were previewed, so this is everything except for those.

The clips we saw, I believe, were the same clips previewed to a handful of media last a couple weeks ago. They were April meeting the Turtles for the first time, and the snow chase from the Sachs estate.

Be sure to follow Twitter or Facebook tonight! I will be seeing a preview of the movie and will post some of my initial reactions, with a more detailed report to come in a day or two.

Pizza Hut to Launch Life-Size Pizza Thrower at San Diego Comic-Con

Pizza Hut Continues Summer-Long Ninja Turtles Promotion with Tribute to iconic Pizza Thrower Toy, Sampling of Cheesy Bites at Event

Comic Con attendees will have a new attraction to feast their eyes on this year.

The attraction weighs 2 tons. Stands 12 feet high. Took 7 weeks to build. And fires pizzas. From a custom cannon. Up to 30 feet! From a seat perched on top of turret.

Starting Wednesday at the Petco Park Interactive Zone, Pizza Hut will reveal a life-size, fully-functional “Pizza Thrower,” a nod to the classic TMNT toy and the latest way the pizza company is partnering with Paramount on the upcoming movie release.  The Pizza Thrower (rendering and video below, spec sheet attached) will be open to the public to try throughout the convention. The Thrower will fire faux Cheesy Bites Pizzas at Ninja Turtles enemies, and participants will receive free slices of the popular Pizza Hut pizza.

Check out this teaser video of the Pizza Thrower being built:

Pizza Hut Reunites with Ninja Turtles for Blockbuster Movie Partnership

The TMNT have a long history with Pizza Hut pizza, and this summer, with the release of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, these two forces are reuniting. The cornerstone of the partnership is the return of the popular Cheesy Bites Pizza, including a "hidden menu" of four special TMNT-style topping combinations.

The partnership goes digital with special online promotions that will be supported through Pizza Hut's social media accounts.
To kick off the promotion, Pizza Hut will host a #TBTMNT (Throwback Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) promotion on its Twitter and Instagram channels where fans are encouraged to post their old turtle swag or turtle costumes for chances to win gift cards and other prizes. More information can be found on the Pizza Hut Twitter channel.
Leading up to the premiere of the Ninja Turtles movie, fans can learn the “turtle way” to cut a pizza “Katana Style” via a “Katana Cut” training video. Fans will then be able to order a pizza cut this way – in four Ninja Turtle-size slices instead of eight – to draw a closer experience to the film.
In addition, the box topper for Cheesy Bites pizzas will feature an augmented reality experience for customers at home. Fans will have a chance to unlock extended footage from the movie and additional content through an interactive AR experience.
All digital assets will also be housed on a new Tumblr page hosted by Pizza Hut. The page will provide an arena for fans of pizza and the Ninja Turtles to showcase memories and stories related to the Turtles and Pizza Hut for other enthusiasts around the world to enjoy.

Lifesize Pizza Thrower

Pizza Hut will reprise a legendary toy figure and fan favorite by unveiling a life-size version of the “Pizza Thrower,” which will make appearances at live events. Fans will be able to take charge of the iconic vehicle and fire Cheesy Bites Pizza props at targets, including movie bad guys like Shredder and the Foot Clan, and also enjoy a sampling of real Cheesy Bites Pizza.

"Ninja Turtles" Movie Tie-In Game Announced for Nintendo 3DS

Activision has announced a tie-in game for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. While the movie has a release date of August 8, the game just has a general release date of "August."

Nintendo Life reports:
[The game] will take the form of a third-person action game that will let players switch between the four turtles at any time. Each turtle possesses his own set of stats and skills, with Raphael, as a given example, centering on strength and Michelangelo focusing more on speed. Classic foes will show up as fodder to face off against, including the Foot Clan and Baxter Stockman's scientific abominations.

Interestingly, one of the released screenshots features Slash, obviously influenced by the character's appearance in the Nickelodeon cartoon. It seems likely that despite an obvious attempt to emulate the appearance of the movie, the game might not actually have much in common with it.

TMNT 2014 Movie Action Figures Revealed!

Here they are, finally, with no funny business or bad angles - the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie action figures. The nine figures of wave one consist of the four Turtles, Splinter, Shredder, April O'Neil, a Foot Soldier, and Undercover Raph. Of particular note is Splinter, as this is the first good look we've had of his character design.

Unfortunately, this compilation doesn't provide a very accurate look at the scale of the figures, although they look to all be about the same size. If this is the case, it won't be very true to the movie, which, as we've seen in the trailers, features a very large size difference between the Turtles and April. Although we haven't seen a clear shot of Splinter in the trailers, he is expected to be quite small, given that he is played by actor Danny Woodburn.

The Official TMNT 30th Anniversary is Today!

Chances are you've heard the buzz about this year being the TMNT's 30th anniversary. Well, strap on your party hats, TODAY is the actual 30th anniversary of when Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird debuted their "silly" little comic book at a comic book show in Portsmouth, NH. That was May 5, 1984. Through a series of fortunate events, by December 1987 there was an animated TV series and with that a nationwide phenomenon grabbed hold.

There have been a lot of highs and lows in the last 30 years for TMNT fans, but we are undeniably experience one of the high times right now. With a successful CGI animated series from Nickelodeon, new on-going comics and reprints from IDW, and a slew of merchandising from Playmates and other partners, the Turtles certainly aren't limping through this anniversary year. And, of course, this summer will see the release of the first live-action TMNT movie in 21 years.

So, here's to Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird, and all of the other creators and talent who have dipped their fingers into the many worlds of the TMNT. They've all contributed a lot of happiness to the lives of a lot of people. And being able to give a person happiness is probably close to the best gift you can give a person.

Please feel free to share your favorite TMNT memories in the comments, or on Twitter and Facebook. Use the hashtag #tmnt30 to track everyone's stories!

To celebrate the 30th anniversary, look for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Visual History in stores on June 24, 2014. This comprehensive book will detail all aspects of the Turtles' history, alongside amazing visuals all types of TMNT fans will love. "New" TMNT Movie Trailer Shows All Four Turtles

A "new" trailer for the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie, release yesterday, unfortunately is basically the same as the one released about a month ago but with some new shots spliced into the end.

The new shots do give a better look at each of the Turtles, plus the quick glimpse of Splinter we saw a couple weeks ago. Not that this is much improvement over the original version of the trailer, this is probably the version that should have been released initially.

New "Ninja Turtles" TV Spot Gives First Look at Splinter

IGN has released an exclusive look at a new TV spot for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. While this 30-second spot shows mostly the same footage we saw in the trailer released a couple weeks ago, there are some new shots, including a very brief glimpse at Splinter.

This new spot is also narrated by Splinter, who is telling the Turtles about the importance of family. A couple weeks ago it was announced that Tony Shalhoub had been cast as the voice of Splinter. Also announced was Johnny Knoxville as the voice of Leonardo.

In this second screen grab, it appears that Splinter, who is wielding a sword, is about to face off against Shredder.
