New TMNT Episodes Begin Jan. 25; New Voice Cast Members Announced

An exclusive article on TVGuide.com has announced that new episodes of Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series will begin again on January 25. This special Friday night episode will air at 7pm Easter / 6pm Central (check your local listings to be sure) and introduces the Rat King.

Also revealed in the article is the news that Roseanne Barr has been cast as the voice of Kraang Prime, who will appear in the season finale. Additionally, Kelly Hu has been announced as the voice of Karai, and Cassandra Peterson (aka Elvira) will be a research scientist named Mrs. Campbell.

The character design for Karai, who is presumably shown facing Leo in the picture above, has created a bit of a stir. She is said to be a rebellious teenager, which is a bit of a departure from previous incarnations of the character.

"Ninja Turtles" to Begin Filming in New York in April

While no details are currently available, the above tweet showed up over the weekend, declaring that filming on the upcoming live action TMNT movie would begin in New York starting in April. Previously, the movie had been scheduled to film in Vancouver (before getting shut down back in June). It is likely that New York filming will consist of establishing shots, considering the lower cost of shooting a movie in Vancouver.

Whatever the case, this news means that the movie is ready to start moving forward again. Let's just hope the script has been completely rewritten so that it doesn't at all resemble the absolute piece of crap script that was leaked online over the summer.

Beginning January 12, cable network The Hub will be airing episodes of Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation.

From the press release:

“Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation” (1:30-2 p.m.) Hub TV Network Series Premiere
Everyone’s favorite turtles are coming to The Hub! Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo are four genetically mutated turtles who have grown into human-sized, ninja-powered crime-fighters living in the sewers of New York City. Under the tutelage of Master Splinter, these four teens have spent their formative years fighting their nemesis, Shredder, and his evil army. But now, they are introduced to a new foe, Dragon Lord. It will take all the power of the turtles to combat the new villain, but lucky for them, they will have help from a new ninja turtle, a female turtle named Venus De Milo.
Be sure to check your local listings to verify the time and channel.

TMNT LEGOs Now Appearing in Stores

Although they have an official release date of January 2013, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles LEGO sets have been spotted by numerous people on store shelves. Most reports seem to be finding the sets at Toys R Us stores, as well as (of all places) Walgreens. However, it should be noted that both stores are selling the sets for higher than the MSRP. If you're patient, you can probably get a better deal if you wait for the sets to appear in Walmart or Target.

Thanks to Shawn B. for sending in these pics from his local Toys R Us!

TMNT McDonald's Promotion Begins Today

McDonald's restaurants are scheduled to begin the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles promotion today! So go get yourself a Happy Meal or something. But don't bother complaining about the food. If you don't want the food, walk in, ask to buy the toy(s), buy it/them, and walk out. It's a pretty simple process.
