Pizza Hut Reunites with Ninja Turtles for Blockbuster Movie Partnership

The TMNT have a long history with Pizza Hut pizza, and this summer, with the release of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, these two forces are reuniting. The cornerstone of the partnership is the return of the popular Cheesy Bites Pizza, including a "hidden menu" of four special TMNT-style topping combinations.

The partnership goes digital with special online promotions that will be supported through Pizza Hut's social media accounts.
To kick off the promotion, Pizza Hut will host a #TBTMNT (Throwback Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) promotion on its Twitter and Instagram channels where fans are encouraged to post their old turtle swag or turtle costumes for chances to win gift cards and other prizes. More information can be found on the Pizza Hut Twitter channel.
Leading up to the premiere of the Ninja Turtles movie, fans can learn the “turtle way” to cut a pizza “Katana Style” via a “Katana Cut” training video. Fans will then be able to order a pizza cut this way – in four Ninja Turtle-size slices instead of eight – to draw a closer experience to the film.
In addition, the box topper for Cheesy Bites pizzas will feature an augmented reality experience for customers at home. Fans will have a chance to unlock extended footage from the movie and additional content through an interactive AR experience.
All digital assets will also be housed on a new Tumblr page hosted by Pizza Hut. The page will provide an arena for fans of pizza and the Ninja Turtles to showcase memories and stories related to the Turtles and Pizza Hut for other enthusiasts around the world to enjoy.

Lifesize Pizza Thrower

Pizza Hut will reprise a legendary toy figure and fan favorite by unveiling a life-size version of the “Pizza Thrower,” which will make appearances at live events. Fans will be able to take charge of the iconic vehicle and fire Cheesy Bites Pizza props at targets, including movie bad guys like Shredder and the Foot Clan, and also enjoy a sampling of real Cheesy Bites Pizza.

"Ninja Turtles" Movie Tie-In Game Announced for Nintendo 3DS

Activision has announced a tie-in game for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. While the movie has a release date of August 8, the game just has a general release date of "August."

Nintendo Life reports:
[The game] will take the form of a third-person action game that will let players switch between the four turtles at any time. Each turtle possesses his own set of stats and skills, with Raphael, as a given example, centering on strength and Michelangelo focusing more on speed. Classic foes will show up as fodder to face off against, including the Foot Clan and Baxter Stockman's scientific abominations.

Interestingly, one of the released screenshots features Slash, obviously influenced by the character's appearance in the Nickelodeon cartoon. It seems likely that despite an obvious attempt to emulate the appearance of the movie, the game might not actually have much in common with it.

Social Media Campaign Reveals 4 New TMNT Posters, Trailer

Yesterday, Paramount launched a social media campaign encouraging people to tweet which Turtle "team" they are on through the website TurtleReveal.com. Once a Turtle reached an unspecified threshold of votes, a new character poster for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie would be revealed. Once all four posters were revealed, a new "exclusive" trailer was promised. By the end of the day, the Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael posters had been revealed. Donatello was then revealed this morning.

And, as promised, the reveal of all four posters was followed up with the release of a new trailer.

Packaged 2014 Ninja Turtles Movie Figures Revealed

After getting various levels of reveals over the last few months, we finally have some clear pictures of the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie figures in their retail packages. Interestingly, these figures still have the "Ninja Turtles" title, while the movie has been officially changed to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

Check out these and close-ups of other figures at ActionFigureFury.com.

TMNT 2014 Movie Action Figures Revealed!

Here they are, finally, with no funny business or bad angles - the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie action figures. The nine figures of wave one consist of the four Turtles, Splinter, Shredder, April O'Neil, a Foot Soldier, and Undercover Raph. Of particular note is Splinter, as this is the first good look we've had of his character design.

Unfortunately, this compilation doesn't provide a very accurate look at the scale of the figures, although they look to all be about the same size. If this is the case, it won't be very true to the movie, which, as we've seen in the trailers, features a very large size difference between the Turtles and April. Although we haven't seen a clear shot of Splinter in the trailers, he is expected to be quite small, given that he is played by actor Danny Woodburn.

"New" TMNT Movie Trailer Shows All Four Turtles

A "new" trailer for the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie, release yesterday, unfortunately is basically the same as the one released about a month ago but with some new shots spliced into the end.

The new shots do give a better look at each of the Turtles, plus the quick glimpse of Splinter we saw a couple weeks ago. Not that this is much improvement over the original version of the trailer, this is probably the version that should have been released initially.

TMNT 2014 Teaser Posters Released

Paramount has released the first official teaser posters for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Each of the four posters features the hand of one of the Turtles holding his signature weapon. The posters also confirm the August 8 release date.

TMNT Movie Trailer Previewed, Will be Online Thursday

Paramount has previewed the first teaser trailer for the upcoming TMNT movie (now officially titled "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" in the featured logos) at CinemaCon, a trade show in Las Vegas for theater owners. Among those in attendance were several representatives from various entertainment websites, who have posted descriptions of what they saw.

According to these descriptions, the trailer is voiced over by Shredder (William Fichtner), who tells April that he has worked with her father to create the Turtles. And thus, the tagline given is "Heroes Are Not Born - They're Created."

The other big reveal is the Turtles themselves. Although we've seen posters and toys and (creepy) Halloween costumes, we still haven't seen the fully CGI-rendered, moving Turtles as they will actually appear in the movie. However, we DO see them in this trailer. Unfortunately, reactions to how the Turtles do actually look haven't exactly been positive...

Meredith Woerner from ion.com writes:
The best way to describe the look of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is giant, galumping, green babies. Like the baby masks that costume shops sell on Halloween, only as turtles. Similar to these babies below — but with Voldemort's nose and very, very childlike eyes. It's very jarring, but kind of what we expected.
Although filming of the trailer was obviously not allowed, this still of Megan Fox (April O'Neil) and Will Arnett (Vernon Fenwick) from the movie was shown and allowed to be photographed.

Read all of the descriptions for more details:

For those of us not at CinemaCon, word is that the trailer will hit online sometime Thursday morning. And then you can catch it on the big screen before Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

So, how bad does this seem to you? Or are you excited?

"Ninja Turtles" Trailer Set for April 4 with "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"

Producer Galen Walker has announced via Facebook that the first trailer for "Ninja Turtles" will be tied to the upcoming film, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which is due in theaters April 4.

Chances are that the trailer will debut online the same week, and then once it's out there the marketing machine for the movie should be in motion.

"Ninja Turtles" is scheduled to hit theaters on August 8, 2014.

Playmates 1990 TMNT Movie Classic Figures

Last year at Comic-Con, Playmates impressed the crowd with a slide showcasing an upcoming line of classic figures based on the first TMNT movie. Now at Toy Fair we're getting a better look at all four Turtles in this line.

Unfortunately, the mass production version of these figures seem to have lost a lot of the awe that the prototype shown in the early pictures elicited. These figures are in the same 6" scale as the classic cartoon Turtles from Playmates and are expected to hit shelves in the Fall.

Note to Playmates: Movie Mike never had chucks with chains.

You can get more photos of these figures over at ToyArk.com.

There is a lot more news coming out of Toy Fair, but my current schedule is probably only going to let me update you with one piece a day. If you haven't already hunted down everything else, just hang tight and you can look forward to Turtle tie bits all week!

A Real Look at the 2014 TMNT Movie Toys

And here it is - finally, our first real picture of the 2014 "Ninja Turtles" movie toys! Here we see Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. This picture is via Stoer Magazine at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. These are apparently the 12" scale figures.

First "Ninja Turtles" 2014 Movie Poster

This poster for the upcoming "Ninja Turtles" movie has been spotted in the wild. In the poster we can see yet more details of the individual look for each Turtle. The poster also retains the logo from a very early teaser poster spotted last year.

A version of this photo was first spotted on Instagram, with a member of the Technodrome forums finding the clearer shot seen to the left. This is part of a display at the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

First Look at "Ninja Turtles" 2014 Shredder

Technodrome forum user RaphTMNT has posted the image to the left showing the design for Shredder in the upcoming movie. I can confirm these images to not be fake. In them, we can see Shredder sporting extreme-metal, samurai-inspired armor. Definitely not someone you want to run into!

UPDATE: Alas, I've had to remove the pictures due to a request from Paramount.

Another First Look at 2014 Movie Turtles

Today, ComicVine published a photo of some reference figures of the 2014 movie Turtles. These are not action figure toys, but rather they are sculpts that were used for visual reference on set, as well as for CGI animation purposes. And I can confirm that this is not a fake.

In the picture above, you can see Michelangelo is styled the same as we saw him in the recent Halloween costume photo. Raphael and Donatello and also sporting unique looks. A picture showing more detail of Leonardo (right) has also been posted online by Technodrome forum member RaphTMNT. This picture gives us a better idea of what to expect the Turtles to look like in the finished movie.

And here's a better look at the Donatello reference figure, posted by Technodrome forum user Donnie.

UPDATE: Alas, I've had to remove the images due to a request from Paramount.

First (Sort Of) Image of 2014 Movie Turtles

It's not a very good sign that less than eight months out from the release of the movie (due August 8 - still my birthday!) Paramount still hasn't released even the smallest teaser for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. However, with all the product tie-ins in development getting ready to be solicited to buyers and distributors, images and information are going to start leaking.

A few weeks ago we had a description of what the new action figures would look like, and now we have an actual image of one of the Halloween costumes. And I can confirm that this image is real, NOT fake.

Obviously, like most Halloween costumes, the quality is pretty low, but it does give us a good idea of what we can expect the full CGI Turtles to look like. Basically, a (kinda creepy) human head design with an assortment of clothing, which will be different for each Turtle.

With Toy Fair next month, we will soon be seeing plenty of pictures of the new toys, which will give us an even better idea of what to expect. Heck, maybe one of these days we'll actually get a trailer!

An Almost Look at "Ninja Turtles" Movie Action Figures

Happy New Year! 2014 has arrived, and it's looking to be a big year for the TMNT. The biggest event, of course, will be the release of the new live action movie, currently scheduled for August 8 (still my birthday). Although we have yet to be shown what the Turtles will look like in their CGI forms, toys for the movie have been in development for awhile. And now is beginning the season of Toy Fair season.

At one such Toy Fair in Russia, some lucky individuals were able to get a glimpse at these new figures. Unfortunately, pictures were not allowed. However, one person put together a fairly detailed report of what he saw.

Read the full report.

Amongst the figures on display were the four Turtles, Splinter, April, Shredder, and a Foot Soldier.

The Turtles are noted to each have different physiques and different clothing. The designs are described as being "traditional," whatever that might mean.

Splinter has more of a "Fu Manchu" vibe going on.

April is dressed like we saw Megan Fox dressed in the many set pictures taken during filming last summer. However, the figure apparently doesn't look much like her.

Shredder is described has having an abundance of pointy edges poking out of him everywhere.

The Foot Soldiers mimic the guys in drab that were also seen on set.

Again, you'll want to read the full report to get the best feel. More toy shows will be taking place in the next couple of months, including Toy Fair in New York. If we don't see the action figures ourselves sooner, we definitely will then.

Like all other TMNT action figures ever, these are being made by Playmates Toys.

"Ninja Turtles" Release Date Moved to August 8, 2014

Deadline.com reports that the release date for next year's "Ninja Turtles" movie has been moved back from June 14, 2014, to August 8, 2014. The given likely reason is to put more space between it and Transformers 4, another Paramount production, which is slated for June 27, 2014.
Both of these have involved campaigns and a big merchandising component, and it was thought the studio would be better off spacing the two toy-tied films further apart than the 19 days it was looking at in the original scheduling configuration. Of course, this puts TMNT just one week away from Marvel Studio’s next superhero franchise launch Guardians Of The Galaxy, which opens August 1.
And yes, if you were paying attention last week, you'll recall that August 8 is my birthday! Woohoo!
